OEE Definition

OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) is a manufacturing KPI that measures how effectively equipment is used during planned production time.

It combines three factors:

  • Availability — how much planned production time the equipment is running.
  • Performance — whether it runs at the expected speed.
  • Quality — how many products are made correctly the first time.

OEE = Availability × Performance × Quality.

We measure OEE to identify losses such as downtime, slow cycles, and defects; compare performance over time; and prioritize improvements that increase productive capacity.
